Customs Head is sent on leave

Jules Ilario.

WILLEMSTAD--Curaçao Customs Director Jules Ilario has been placed on administrative leave by interim Minister of Finance Lourdes Alberto. She did not want to use the term “mandatory” because the two had agreed on this temporary order measure.

The staff stated to have no more confidence in the chief and last week took industrial action.

Pending further investigation Ilario is on vacation for at least 15 days (three working weeks). The employees do not agree with his policies and hold him accountable for what they say is an unsuccessful reorganisation process at the law enforcement agency.
