SABA/ST. EUSTATIUS--As of January 2018, Curvin George has been appointed new Director of Youth Care and Family Supervision in the Caribbean Netherlands.

The current Director of the Court of Guardianship for the Caribbean Netherlands was appointed after a thorough selection procedure, Government Service Caribbean Netherlands stated Tuesday.

George has been Court of Guardianship Director since July 2013, before that he worked as senior council researcher with this organization.

In recent years, George helped to build the organization and improve the quality. This year, the Inspection for Youth Care found the quality of the Court of Guardianship to be “satisfactory.” This means that research in the interests of the safety of children in the Caribbean Netherlands is up to standards.

RCN said that George has brought justice partners together where it pertains to juvenile crime. In this project, three models of juvenile crime intervention were set up in cooperation with, among others, Caribbean Netherlands Police Force KPCN.

It was also stated that after more than 10 years he managed to bring all Guardianship Council Directors from the region together in Aruba. The aim of this meeting was to achieve uniformity in work and to formulate a common goal.

In his new position, George will be involved in youth care in the Caribbean Netherlands. “The youth care is an important sector in the Caribbean Netherlands that deserves attention over the next few years,” said George.

The application process for a new Court of Guardianship Director will be started soon.
