Corallo remains behind bars

PHILIPSBURG--The Joint Court of Justice on Wednesday, April 12, rejected a request to lift or suspend the provisional arrest of businessman Francesco Corallo. The request to transfer him to the sick-bay of the Pointe Blanche prison was also rejected.
This means thatCorallo will remain in detention awaiting his extradition hearing. His lawyers submitted their request to lift or suspend the provision arrest on March 21. The hearing took place April 4.
This was the third request to lift or suspend the provisional arrest that was rejected by the Joint Court of Justice. Coralo was arrested on December 13, 2016 at the request of Italian authorities, suspected of tax fraud and money laundering.
