Commemorative coin of Willem-Alexander

WILLEMSTAD--The first commemorative coin of the year 2017 has a royal theme.

On the occasion of King Willem-Alexander’s 50th birthday, the Central Bank of Curaçao and St. Maarten (CBCS) issued a silver five Antillean guilder commemorative coin.

The obverse side of this coin shows the portrait of the king, the words “Willem-Alexander Koning der Nederlanden” and “50 jaar”. The reverse side includes the coat of arms of the former Netherlands Antilles, the denomination, mintmarks and year of issue.

This commemorative coin can be purchased at the Currency Department of CBCS in Scharloo for the price of NAf. 102.50.

Apart from the silver coins, the Royal Dutch Mint in the Netherlands has issued gold 10 guilder coins for Curaçao and St. Maarten with the same designs; however, the gold coins are only for sale at the Royal Dutch Mint for 204.95 euros each.
