CDEMA and CCDM to sign collaboration agreement

An exhibition at the 11th Caribbean conference on Comprehensive Disaster Management (CDM) was officially opened on Tuesday by Prime Minister Silveria Jacobs. The conference is the Caribbean’s largest gathering of disaster-risk-management professionals. In total, there are more than 300 attendees representing 18 countries at the conference, which is taking place at Sonesta Maho Beach Resort, Casino and Spa until Friday, December 6.  CUPECOY--The Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA) and the Caribbean Center for Disaster Medicine (CCDM), operated by American University of the Caribbean (AUC) School of Medicine, are expected to sign a collaboration agreement on Thursday to establish a partnership for the delivery of health care services in times of emergencies.

The agreement’s signatories will be CDEMA Executive Director Ronald Jackson and CCDM Executive Director Mark Quirk.

“CDEMA, the regional agency for disaster management, and CCDM, which focuses on disaster medicine education and training, share the goals of preparing both professionals and the public to respond to disasters, such as hurricanes. Through this collaboration, CCDM and CDEMA will work together to help the region better prepare for and respond to disaster-related medical and health care issues,” said AUC in a press release on Wednesday.
