Firefighters responded to calls of a bush fire in the Cay Hill area on Monday afternoon. Black clouds of smoke were seen near a home opposite A.J.C. Brouwer Road.
On arrival, Fire Department officials encountered a man burning trash that included old tires. He was instructed to put out the fire immediately, as he did not have a permit from the Fire Department to burn his garbage at his home. He complied and put out the blaze by himself. The Fire Department reminds the public that they need to get a permit to burn waste and correct measures need to be put in place before igniting fires near homes, according to officials on Monday.
