POND ISLAND--A roll on roll off truck ran over a man on the Sanitary Landfill (dump) early Tuesday. The driver did not notice the as yet unidentified man and drove on top of him, killing the victim on the spot due to the severe blow he received.
Police spokesman Chief Inspector Ricardo Henson said that the Forensic Department is conducting the investigation and details will follow as soon as they become available. He did confirm that the man was not showing any signs of live.
The Daily Herald understands that the man was known for searching through garbage to collect any usable items found in the trash. Police were seen on the dump gathering statements from persons in the area.
The driver was not taken into custody and the investigation continues.
