PHILIPSBURG--In an effort to spread awareness about kidney disease during Kidney Awareness Month being observed in March, Because of Prayer Miracle Centre held several information sessions earlier this month.
The sessions included one held on Tuesday, March 7, to fifth and sixth graders at the Methodist Agogic Centre (MAC) school. Because of Prayer Miracle Centre said participating pupils were “delighted” to receive the information shared about this topic.
In addition to the awareness events at MAC, the group also held its first information event at Le Grand Marche on Bush Road. During this event, the group shared information to as many persons as possible.

Representatives of the group asked persons whether they knew what dialysis is and whether they had hypertension or diabetes. Persons who answered yes to any of these questions, were told that it was important for them to see their family physician, do at least an annual physical check-up and have their kidneys checked. “We shared material with the public that they can read and educate themselves and be aware of kidney illness and how vital it is to eat healthy and drink sufficient water.”

Because of Prayer Miracle Centre will be at the Lion Rudy Hoeve Health and Wellness Fair at the St. Maarten Festival Village on Saturday, March 25, from 10:00am to 4:00pm.

World Kidney Day was celebrated on Thursday, March 9. “Seeing that we are quite new to the awareness of this disease on our island, we are getting out there,” representatives of Because of Prayer Miracle Centre said in a press release.
