PHILIPSBURG--The managements of Banco di Caribe NV and Social and Health Insurances SZV recently signed a financing agreement, bringing Banco di Caribe into the loan consortium which supports the construction of the new St. Maarten General Hospital.

The bank’s Managing Director Commercial Affairs Eduardo A. de Kort and Managing Director Operations Percy Virginia represented Banco di Caribe during the signing event, together with SZV Director Glen Carty, who represented the insurance service provider.

With the agreement, Banco di Caribe acquired NAf. 5 million of SZV’s loan participation, which brought Banco di Caribe’s backing of the hospital construction project up to NAf. 13.8 million, including separate performance bonds issued by Banco di Caribe in connection with the project.

The bank said in a press release it “supports SMMC’s [St. Maarten Medical Centre’s – Ed.] mission of raising the level of health care and providing quality care on the island.”
