Authorities recall Robin Hood Flour

PHILIPSBURG--A recall has been issued for Robin Hood Original All Purpose Flour and Robin Hood Flour products made by Smucker Foods of Canada. The Health Inspectorate said the reason for the recall is flour contaminated with the E. coli bacteria identified as E. coli (O121).

The symptoms after consuming products contaminated with E. coli may include nausea, vomiting, mild to severe abdominal cramps and watery to bloody diarrhoea.

All consumers of flour must not taste raw dough or batter, must clean and sanitise with hot water or chlorine all bowls, utensils, and/or surfaces where flour was used and must wash hands thoroughly after handling.

All food establishments (minimarkets, supermarkets, etc.) are instructed to take these products from their shelves or storages and have them destroyed. Ministry of Public Health, Social Development and Labour VSA Food Safety Department inspectors will be on the lookout for any of the products.
