PHILIPSBURG--Two men attempted to rob Popular Express on Walter J. Nisbeth Road at 7:00am Saturday. A security guard opened the entrance of the business and two men wearing hats rushed the guard trying to gain entry to the office.
After a physical altercation, the guard managed to escape and the men kicked in the glass entrance door and tried to kick open the steel main office door. The men were unsuccessful in breaking through and escaped in a Hyundai I10 before police arrived on scene to investigate.
Detectives took statements from those who had seen what took place and the Robbery Unit has taken over the case. Police are requesting that anyone who has information about the case call them at 911.
