Anguilla youth did well in St. Maarten

Anguilla’s representatives Rushanna Welcome, Kyliyah Baird and Michealanne Benjamin.

 

ANGUILLA--Michaelanne Benjamin and Rushanna Welcome represented Anguilla at the Annual Interscholastic Idol Competition held on Saturday, April 15, in St. Maarten.

  According to a report from the Department of Youth and Culture both young ladies performed well. Benjamin from the Adrian T Hazell Primary school was in the junior category and Welcome a student at the Albena Lake Hodge Comprehensive School competed in the senior category. Welcome performed very well and won first place with her delivery of “No more Nights” by David Phelps.

  The 3rd Annual International Interscholastic Idol Competition, organised by the Young Ambassadors Foundation of St. Martin attracted participants from several of the neighbouring islands including Curaçao, St. Eustatius, St. Kitts, Nevis and host St. Martin. Anguilla’s Kyliyah Baird, the winner of the 2016 Competition also formed part of the programme line-up as a guest artiste, and also performed well.
