At 500 AM AST (0900 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Lorenzo was located near latitude 17.3 North, longitude 44.1 West. Lorenzo is moving toward the northwest near 15 mph (24 km/h) and this motion is expected to continue today, followed by a turn to the north tonight. A northeastward motion is ex-pected on Wednesday and Thursday.

Maximum sustained winds are near 60 mph (95 km/h) with higher gusts. Little change in strength is forecast over the next few days.

Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 175 miles (280 km) from the center.

The estimated minimum central pressure is 1000 mb (29.53 inches).
