Or else

Or else

The confirmation letter deadline for public transportation permit holders has now been extended (see related story) until May 8. The original one was on February 27 and priority attention will continue to be given to individuals who submitted their documentation by then.

Days earlier, only 168 out of 639 operators had completed the process, making a postponement necessary. Of these, respectively 125 and 454 were taxis, while for bus drivers it regarded 36 out of 138.

No update on those figures was provided in this latest announcement by the Ministry of Tourism, Economic Affairs, Transport and Telecommunication (TEATT). However, one may assume compliance is still relatively low.

To facilitate such, the registration link will be reopened, allowing licensees to apply via a designated online portal. Hopefully, this prompts more to respond, because updating their status is important not in the least place for themselves.

After all, failure to do so will reportedly result in enforcement measures, including classification as inactive in the transport registry and potential prohibition from operating, particularly in cases where road tax obligations have not been fulfilled. It may not come to that, but government’s message is clear: Get aboard the regulation train or else.
