MARIGOT—The 2017 mountain bike championship, the third edition in the series, will be held this coming Sunday in Bellevue using the inaugural Caribbean Championship course used in September 2016. All of the usual suspects should be on the start line.
Defending champion in the Elites category Dean Hodge Jr described the 5K loop as “technical, hard from beginning to end, with lots of climbs.”
“I know what to expect having raced the course before but nevertheless it’s going to be tough for everyone,” he said.
How the course rides on Sunday will be determined by the weather. If it dries up between now and Sunday after the heavy rain, the course should be fine but if there’s more rain it will be a mud fest and hard going.
Categories are Senior Men (19-39) and Masters 1 (40-49) who will do four laps; Masters 2 (50 plus), Women and Juniors three laps, Cadets two laps, and a beginner category to do as many laps as they can. Kids will be doing an easier course.
Start time is 7:30am for adults, Juniors and Cadets, and 9:30am for the children categories. Entry fee is US$15 for adults and US$ 5 for kids, payable at Tri Sport in Simpson Bay or Marigot.
The race is sponsored by Atlantic Signs, Tri Sport, Bacchus, and Time Masters.
