ANGUILLA—In the Champion of Champions race on Sunday August 11 the UFO was declared the Champion by coming in first of the ten A Class boats. All boats were allowed to compete due to the cancellation of races last weekend. In second place was De Wizard, third Real Deal, followed by Satellite and Sonic. The race started at 3.10pm and did not finish until 6.50pm as the wind had dropped considerably.
In the B Class race the winner was Alma Gloria followed by F5 Tornado, Kendro 5, Stay Up and Storm.
The races were sponsored by the Social Security Board with the A Class first prize at EC$1500, second $1400 and reducing by $100 as far as fifth place which received $1100. In the B Class the first prize was $1200 with again reducing by $100 for each position.
The Boat of the Year is calculated on the positions in all the races throughout the season. In the A Class, Real Deal was the winner with a prize of $2,500 and in the B Class it was F5 Tornado, also with a prize of $2,500.
