PHILIPSBURG– CIA took top honours for the under-13 category of the 7th Annual Top1Toys Interscholastic Run along the Boardwalk Sunday afternoon. St. Dominic High topped the 13–15 category, and MPC Fast & Old was first in the16–19 years group..
The children ranged in age as early as six years old to older teens. The group showcased remarkable speed, endurance, and willpower. The youngest runners completed 1.7 km, one loop along the Boardwalk, while the two oldest age groups ran 3.5 km, completing two loops.
“It’s inspiring to see our young runners push themselves while supporting each other. We, as a run club, believe we have a role in motivating children to be active and enjoy exercise. This is why we organize this event each year, to spark enthusiasm for running on St. Maarten,” said president Krispijn Teunissen for the St. Maarten Road Runners Association.
The participating schools included CIA, MAC, Hillside, Sr. Regina, Sr. Borgia, MPC, St. Dominic High, and Charlotte Brookson College.
CIA featured the fastest individual runners in the under-13 category. Michael Margarita and Mila Williams led the 13–15 years category, and Kay’lon Johnson and Gabriella Pauletta in the 16–19 years category.
Each winning school team received $300 to support their sports programs, encouraging continued participation in athletics and community engagement.
The event was organized by the St. Maarten Road Runners and Dynamics Sporting Club, and made possible by the main sponsor, Top1Toys, along with supportive sponsors 0-14 Kids, NSI, Philipsburg Pharmacy, Gelateria Milano, Tri-Sport, and YC-Events.
