Third Moto Cross and Quads event in Bellevue Park Sunday

MARIGOT—SXM Moto Cross Association will be organising its third Moto Cross and Quads demo day in the Bellevue moto cross park this coming Sunday, January 16, from 10:00am to 5:00pm. As usual the public can look forward to big jumps and plenty of high-speed action. Participants will be mostly from St. Martin and Guadeloupe.

Training races for kids begins from 9:15am to 9:25am riding the small PW50 (Piwi) Yamaha starter bikes on a short version of the adult course. At 9:25am the PW 50 category will again be on the small course and Quads on the large course. The series B (youth and adults mixed) category is at 9:40am and the Series A (experienced riders) category at 10:00am. Each category will have approximately 10-13 riders.
First practice races for all categories and Quads take place from 11:00am to 11:45 followed by the second practice round for all categories and Quads from 1:30pm to 2:20pm. The third practice round for all categories and Quads is from 3:00pm to 4:00pm.
Look out for the return of the oldest participant Derek Nichol (72) and professional Moto Cross rider Julien Mercadier who was easy to spot on the course in November, racing faster and jumping higher than his rivals. Now based in St. Martin, Mercadier has placed second a few times in the French National Championships, has won several regional championships, and also raced in the World Championships.
A first aid tent and a doctor will be on site all day in case of accidents. Entry for the public is free on Sunday and food and refreshments will be available. Organisers recommend adhering to barrier measures. Masks and sanitary gel will be available on site.
