CURACAO—Thirty-seven personal records were obtained out of 51 events which totals an 73% improvement as eight athelets from Super Splash participate in the 9th Siegfried Francisco Invitational Swimming Competition, December 14 to 16, on Curacao.
Nine medals, 2 gold, 4 silver and 3 bronze and 4 ribbons were taken home.
Gold medal winners were Roviënska Vis, 9, on 50 breast stroke and Ivyanne Louisa, 17, on 100 breast stroke.
Silver medals went to Ivyanne Louisa on 50 fly,50 br, 200 IM, 100 free and the bronze medals went to Ivyanna Louisa on 200 free and 50 free and to Kathlyn Vlaun on 400 IM.
Ribbons were won in the age group 10 & under by Rovienska Vis and Daniël Tjon-Tam-Pau.
Emma Croes, aspiring long distance swimmer, Lorenzo Tjon-Tam-Pau, Emilly de Meza-Gopaul and Samara Tjin-Asjoe swam many personal bests.
The Super Splash speed swimmers includec 2 boys and 6 girls ages 9 – 17. They competed in the 50 m pool at Sentro Deportivo Korsou.
Seven clubs participated in the meet, 4 from Curacao, 1 from Aruba, 1 from Bonaire, 1 unattached swimmer and the Super Splash team from St. Maarten. In total 260 swimmers took part.
The Super Splash swimmers participated in the 800 free, 400 free and 400 IM, 200 breast and 200 freestyle, 50 and 100 breast, fly, back and free. The individual categories for boys as well as girls were : 8 & under, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14, 15-17 and 18 & over.
The competition was split in 4 sessions. On Friday December 14 the 1st session started in the
early evening with the line up of the 7 uniformed teams in the opening ceremony. A morning session and an evening session followed on Saturday and on Sunday, December 16 was the closing session in the morning followed by the prize giving.
Although the Super Splashers started out tense because of being unfamiliar with a 50 m pool
and a great amount of participants, they did very well. Dedication and perseverence paid off.
