Azaiah Duzon
PHILIPSBURG--Young swimmer Azaiah Duzon delivered a strong performance at the CARIFTA Games on Monday evening, placing sixth in the Boys 11–12 50m Breaststroke Final with a time of 36.56.
The event was highly competitive, with Barbados taking gold in 34.70, followed by Martinique in second with 35.21 and Trinidad and Tobago securing bronze in 35.97. The Bahamas claimed fourth and fifth places with times of 35.99 and 36.43 respectively.
Duzon secured his place in the final after finishing first in Heat 2 of the 50m breaststroke with a time of 36.86, earning one of the top qualifying times and placing himself among the swimmers heading into the final.
He has been swimming competitively since January 2024, when he joined the Dolphins Swim Club, and had represented St Maarten twice at the CARIFTA Games in the past, reaching the finals on both previous occasions.
Duzon’s performance highlights his continued development, with the young athlete showing strong promise for St Maarten in regional competition.
