St. Maarten represented at NACAC U13/U15

PHILIPSBURG—Four athletes, all students from Hillside Christian School qualified to represent St. Maarte at the North American, Central American and Caribbean Athletic Association (NACAC) Age Group Championship for U13 and U15. Making the cut were Shadwaya Gumbs, Nahjah Wyatte, Nessiah Wyatte and Joleen Tomlin. The athletes will compete in the Pentathlon which consists of five events, the 60 meter sprint, Long Jump, Ball Throw, 800m run for the girls and 1000m for the boys plus the High Jump. The group will also compete in the 4 x 100m mixed relay. The competition is set for July 15 to 16 in the Dominican Republic. The team will first take part in a trainig camp in Santo Domingo July 12 to 13. Countries participating are Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Aruba, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize,Bermuda, British Virgin Islands, Canada, Cayman Islands, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominica, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Grenada, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Jamaica, Mexico, Montserrat, Nicaragua,Puerto Rico, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and Grenadines, Turks and Caicos, US Virgin Islands, United States of America, Trinidad and Tobago, Curacao, Guadeloupe, Martinique, and St. Maarten. The athletes will be accompanied by Delegation Leader Javea Clarke Wattley, Head Coach Abdule Wattley, and Coach Louis Richardson. The group will depart July 11 and return July 18.
