Hillside Christian primary school, Goal Attack, Xiomi Hughes gets ready to shoot against Sister Magda primary in the inter-elementary netball tournament the L. B. Scott Sports Auditorium on Sunday. Hillside Christian won 4-3.
PONDFILL—St. Dominic primary whipped Genevieve De Weever primary 15-2 in a one-sided affair. Goal Shooter, Ziya Essad scored eight goals while Goal Attack, Kayla Fontenelle contributed seven goals. The scorers for Genevieve De Weever were Dejaliyah Gumbs and Luna Jawalapessad with one goal each.
Hillside Christian Primary pulled off a hard-fought win against Sister Magda Primary in the inter-elementary netball tournament at the L.B. Scott Sports Auditorium on Sunday. Hillside won 4-3 in a tense battle that could have gone to either team. Hillside led right through the match but Sister Magda kept fighting back. Right at the end of the match, Magda had a few opportunities to tie but missed the goal. Even with 10 seconds on the clock, a nice build up came up short as the buzzer halted the match. Hillside Goal Attack and Goal Shooter Xiomi Hughes and Faiana Leonard scored two goals each. For Magda, Goal Shooter, D’Shanayra Philbert hit two goals and Goal Attack, Nianna Gumbs one goal.
MAC-John A. Gumbs Campus defeated Marie Laurence 13-7 in the first match of the afternoon. For the winners, Goal Attack, Radhika Grubaxani scored a game-high seven goals while Goal Shooter, Maia Woodley added six goals. Marie Laurence’s goals were scored by Goal Attack Tay’nayje Baron with four and Kieshaya Arndell Jorme with three.
Ruby Labega primary played well to defeat Oranje primary 10-3. Goal Attach Ines ---contributed all 10 goals to her team’s tally while for Oranje, Goal Attack, K’vincia Brooks and Goal Shooter Maria Joes Quinenoes Angelo scored two and one goal respectively.
MAC-Browlia F. Maillard Campus made light work of St. Joseph primary with a 13-1 win. Rihanna Jones was in red hot form as she scored 10 of her team’s 13 goals. For St. Joseph, Goal Attack, Abrianna Henry scored the lone goal for her team.
The final preliminary round will be played on March 8. St. Joseph will play Oranje primary from 3:00pm, Marie Genevieve De Weever will match skills with Leonald Connor from 3:45pm, Sister Magda takes on MAC-BFM Campus from 4:30pm, Sister Marie Laurence do battle against Sister Borgia from 5:15pm and then MAC-JAG Campus takes on St. Dominic primary.
