Sports scholarship training available this weekend

PHILIPSBURG—Any students hoping to land a sports scholarship to a U.S. College should meet with representatives of the Piper Davis Group this weekend. It does not matter what sport you are interested the basic rules to apply to school are the same.

Former pro baseball players Andrew Dixon from Jamaica and Rafel Skeete from  St. Maarten along with the Executive Director of the Piper Davis baseball group Fred Plump will be on St. Maarten for three days of clinics and talks on how to get a college sports scholarship.
Action starts Thursday at the Little League ballpark on Pond Island at 5:00pm.  There will be two hours of baseball training for children 12 and up followed by a talk to parents and coaches.
Friday  the older players 15 and up are invited to the field for two hours of training again starting at 5:00pm followed by  a discussion on how to market yourself to colleges. There will be information on how to make a video for the scouts and about the SAT and ACT placement tests. The session is open to athletes and coaches and is not limited to baseball as all college sports programs must adhere to the same recruiting rules.
Saturday starting at 1:00pm the field will be open to 15 and up. Again there will be a two hour training session and a repeat of the how to get a scholarship presentation.
