SMGA selection win Concordia Cup against St. Martin Tamarins

MARIGOT--The St-Maarten Golf Association (SMGA) selection won the traditional "Concordia Cup" on the Mullet Bay golf course last weekend.

Saturday morning's "four-balls" ended with a parity score of 3.5 to 3.5. The afternoon was not so good during the "four-some" for the players of the "Tamarins" of St. Martin, with a score of 2.5 against 4.5, i.e. a total for the first day of 8 to 6 for the players of the SMGA.
The next day to win, the "Tamarins" needed to win at least eight individual matches out of the 14 planned plus one draw.
Despite a great battle, Tamarins only won seven matches and the final score was 15-13 to St. Maarten. After lunch, the players gathered for the friendship photo and the presentation of the Jason Nyuiadzi trophy by his daughter Kiara to the winners.
This was the first meeting between the two golf associations on the island since Irma. This moment of camaraderie around the little white ball allowed players to remove from their minds the calamity that caused so much pain all last year.
Next golf events: East Caribbean Golf Association finals in Anguilla this weekend, December 8 Christmas Scramble, December 15 Cariburo Trophy Scramble.
