ST. EUSTATIUS – Ruvin Pandt was crowned King of the Track at the 2019 St. Eustatius Drag Racing Competition. It was an all Statia finals when Pandt went up against fellow Statia rider, Denicio Spanner and won.
Racing took place at the Quarter mile on the road to Zeelandia. The competition was scheduled to take place over two days, but the organizers ran into a couple of issues they had to rectify before racing could commence such as acquire a permit, clear the track, erect barricades and other concerns. Once that was done Mother Nature also contributed to the race competition issues as it then started to rain.
On Sunday, the skies were clear and everyone was ready to race. Taking part in the competition were 4 bikes from Curacao, 2 bikes from St. Maarten and 1 bike from Guadalupe as well as a total of 6 bikes from Statia.
Members of the St. Eustatius Police Department and Ambulance department, as well as other emergency officials, were on hand to ensure safety for everyone in attendance.
Speaking with King of the Track 2019 winner, Ruvin Pandt after his win, he said “As king of the track this year it's safe to say I knew that I had a good chance to win after I got my bike working right. I promised my fans that I would continue my winning streak as I have zero losses up to this point. Being consistent was the key to winning the competition.”
In the semi-finals, Pandt faced Jenny Martis out of Curacao and Pandt eliminated his competition.
