Milton Peters College Dominates school soccer

CAYHILL- Milton Peters College  teams won both the male and female divisions of the High School Soccer Competition at Raoul Illidge Sports Complex Saturday.

Teams competed for first, second and third place. Three games went into overtime and ended with a penalty shoot-out.
For the female section it was combination team Sundial/Charlotte Brookson who managed to pass one goal by the MAC keeper gaining them a 1-0 advantage and therefore third place. Goal was made by player Dorothy James.
In the final St. Dominic high faced  MPC.  It was the only game of the evening  that ended without  need for overtime. The winning goal was netted by Shakirah Gijsbertha with an assist from Aishel Peters.
For the male section third place winners were St. Dominic High who tied the game with CIA with goals made by Brandon Potmis with an assist of James Cook (St. Dominic) and an equalizer goal made by Vivel Sabnaoi (CIA). The decisive moment came during the penalty shoot-out in which St. Dominic proved to be the stronger competitor with the winning goal made by Joel Lawrie.
All games were intense and all players played with passion but the most exciting game of the night was the much anticipated game between PSVE Academy and MPC (male).
The two teams were the strongest overall in the competition and it proved to be a challenge for each team to penetrate the defense.  The first goal was made by Jeremy Drijvers from MPC but it didn't take too long for it to be equalized by Delano Hodge. This game ended with sudden-death penalties where MPC broke the tie and took the win.
The evening concluded with the award ceremony with prizes presented by the representative of sponsors Pizza Hut and 104.3,  Teddy Sapia.
Also honoured were the Most Valuable players and best keeper. The awards went to
MVP male: Delano Hodge (PSVE); MVP female: Shakirah Gijsbertha (MPC;)
Best keeper male: Najib Baroud (MPC;) and Best keeper female: Whitney Walsh (MAC.)
The Competition was organised by the Oualichi Women's Soccer Association and the Sint Maarten Soccer Association. The competition lasted 6 weeks and was played on half field at the Raoul Illidge Sports Complex.
Next year the organization hopes to grow and provide a full field competition to the participants.
