PHILIPSBURG—Christophe Lannoy, a surveyor working for the Kadaster on the French side, and rising star from the Dynamics Track Club Shakeeba Pink were the respective overall winners of the male and female categories in Sunday’s season-ending Greenhouse to Greenhouse Run.
Runner times were not available by press time but it was known that Lannoy stopped the clock at 35 minutes as he crossed the finished line at the Greenhouse Simpson Bay. That will be a relief to Omarco Robinson who still holds the record for the distance of 31.30 in 2013. Robinson did not take part on Sunday.
Lannoy, who was first in the 35-45 category, built up a good lead right from the start and at some points in the race was two minutes in front of the second placed runner.
Finishing second in this category was Alain Boucard, and third place went to Claudius Colle.
The 16-34 category was won by Darryl Dinart, Mathieu Aubrey was second and Manuel Pierrois third.
Francis de la Porte took the 45-54 category ahead of Stephane Bensaid and Jelle Janssens third.
Wilfred Sully from the large team of Inter Generation Runners was first in the 55 Plus category, Armel Guillaume was second and José Clarke third.
Shakeeba Pink (16) was the first female to finish and first in the 16-34 category. Deborah Pierrois was second and Sabine Leister third.
The 35-45 category was won by Patricia Nolf, Karin Azam second and Patricia Huc third.
Cathy Guerard won the 46-54 category, Micheline Fermeny was second and Cherry Anne Hamilton third.
Mary Wrigley was first in the 55 Plus category with Rosemarie Wilfred second.
The first male walker to finish was Antoine Landforte and Judith Henry was first female.
An interesting side show was a surfski race, just for fun, from Greenhouse to Greenhouse with two of the top paddlers in the business; Juan Pablo Piscione and Stuart Knaggs taking part. Knaggs arrived first, exiting his surfski and running up the Kim Sha beach at the same time as Christophe Lannoy crossed the finish line for the run. Unfortunately no prizes awarded for surfskis.
The run, sponsored by Greenhouse and organised by the Roadrunners Club, attracted 68 participants
