MAC High beats PSVE again to advance to cricket final

CUL DE SAC--The members Methodist Agogic Centre Comprehensive Secondary Education MAC CSE created another upset in the Inter-secondary School Cricket Tournament.

The MAC CSE, needing to win one more match to advance to the final defeated St. Maarten Academy-PSVE by seven runs at the Caribe Lumber Ballpark on Thursday afternoon.
It is the second win in two days against the same opponent for MAC High when no one gave them a chance after being skittled-out for eight runs in the first match. The winners won the toss and decided to bat first. They posted 70 all out. Regan Daniels was the best bowler with three for one in one over. In reply, PSVE was bowled out for 63 runs. For MAC High, Jordel Palmer was the most outstanding bowler with four for five in two overs.
When MAC CSE batted, the main contributors were Kurran Gumbs with 15 (2x6), Palmer with 13 (3x4) and Captain Raheem Atkinson with 11 (1x4).
PSVE’s responses were badly affected when Kemar Brooks and Captain Durvejai Narine were dismissed in the first three balls of the first over, which was bowled by the accurate Palmer. Those two wickets set off the fielding team into wild celebrations while the batting team went quiet in shock.
PSVE’s strategy to keep back two of their good batsmen in John Moses Baptiste and Daniel and send them towards the end nearly worked until both of them got out trying to hit the ball for a six. Paul Price was the top scorer with 19 (2x6, 1x4).
The final will be played between the domineering St. Maarten Academy and MAC High at 3:00pm today. After the match, officials from Cricket St. Maarten will present individual prizes to the player with the most runs, most wickets and the MVP and team awards to the Champion, Sub-Champion and the Most Discipline team.
