Leonald Connor dominates Sunday’s Netball competition

 PHILIPSBURG--Leonald Connor clobbered M.G. de Weever School in the continuing Interscholastic Primary School Netball Championship at L.B. Scott Sports Auditorium. Leonald Connor won 11-2.


Five games were played on Sunday. The Connor team took the lead early in the first quarter 4-1 and never looked back. Goal shooter Shenecia Nelson scored 9 points for her team and Magdarline Fleurival scored 2 points to seal the win. For de Weever both Chenoa Kuiper, goal shooter, and Adriantely Doran, goal attack, scored 1 point each.
In the second match MAC Browlia Maillard met M.L. King. The King School squeezed out an 11-10 victory. Maillard jumped to an early 3 -0 lead in the first quarter. In the second quarter MLK came back scoring 4 goals to tie the match at 4-4. In the third quarter MLK continued with the pressure to go up 8-7 and on for the win.
Leonald Connor returned to the court for the third game and faced MAC Gumbs 1. Connor continued to dominate and won 9-2.
Goal shooter Shyene Duncan scored all 9 goals. For MAC Gumbs 1 goal shooter Ivy Jacobs who came in the match in the third quarter scored 2 points.
Match number 4 Seventh Day Adventist bested MAC Browlia Maillard 8-4. SDA Dishyla James (goal attack) scored 7 points and Nakysha Jederon (goal shooter) scored 1 goal. For Maillard the goal shooter Shienna Williams scored the four goals.
In the last match of the day de Weever met Hillside Christian. This was the tightest match of the day with both team being tied every quarter until the forth when de Weever managed to squeeze one more goal to win the match 4-3. For de Weever Adriantely Doran (goal attack) scored three goals and Christina Singh scored 1 goal. Hillside Christian goal shooter Aljenee Henry scored 1 goal and Soraya Perescival, goal attack, scored 2 points.
After three Sundays of play Danaysha Richinsin (St. Joseph) still leads the scorers list with 18 goals, followed closely by Dishyla James (S.D.A.) with 17, Tyler Timothy (MAC Gumbs 2) 16, 3 players with 15 - Rhëysa Tjon-Tam-Pau 15 (Sr. Borgia), Aljenee Henry (Hillside Christian), Shyene Duncan (L. Connor).
