Garcia father and son in sudden death playoff

MULLET BAY—There was no shortage of suspense at the conclusion of the 3rd Annual Dauphin Telecom Golf Tournament on Sunday when hot shots Emmanuel Garcia and son Pierre were tied on 152 points each in the First Gross series resulting in a sudden death playoff between the two on hole number one.  And it was Emmanuel who prevailed to lift the Dauphin Telecom trophy to succeed his son who was last year’s winner.


 IMG 9871 The two day tournament organised by Les Tamarins golf association brought together some 60 players, up from the 54 last year with a record number of women players participating this year. Windy weather on Saturday gave way to perfect golfing weather with zero breeze on Sunday.  Players in the 0 to 12.4 handicap played in the first flight group (blue tees) and players from the 12.5 to 36 and over handicap played in the second flight group (white tees).golf 1
  With Pierre Garcia settling for second in the Men’s First Flight Gross series, Jesus Rivera was third (gross 155) and Stanley Samuel fourth (160).  Sam Bashir was the winner in the First Flight Net series with a net score of 137, edging out Jonathan Haillant (net 140).
  In the Men’s Second Flight Stableford Gross it was Louis Louchet first with gross 50 and Jean Marc Greaux second (gross 42). In the Second Flight Stableford Net, Holland House Hotel financial director Marc van Iersel shot a net 74 and The Daily Herald Operations Manager Steven de Windt was second with a net 70 score. Stéphane Legendre took third place (net 68) and Arnaud Martin fourth place (net 66).
  The Third Flight Men’s Stableford Net series saw a win for Louis Assier de Pompignan (net 119) and Guillaume Dupuis second (net 111).
  In the Ladies Division Manon Tortelier was the Gross winner and the Collectivite’s Anne-Marie Bouillé taking second place. Muriel Bovet was the Net score winner with Odile Mezieres second.
  Marc van Iersel won the Closest Approach to hole number one while Stanley Samuel won the putting competition on green nine. Both won GPS watches. Jean-Marc Greaux won the closest approach to hole five while the driving competition was won by Pierre Garcia in the first series and Stéphane Legendre in the second series.
 golf 2 Following the trophy presentation, numerous raffle prizes were won by the players.
