Futsal kicks off with stunning 5-2 upset

futsalPHILIPSBURG-Caribbean Auto stunned Marine United as the St. Maarten Futsal competition resumed play at L.B. Scott Sports Auditorium Sunday. Going into the match Auto were 0-2 while United had won their first two matches.

Caribbean Auto came out firing on all cylinders and won 5-2.

The competition paused as the Auditorium floor needed repair.

Baron Dupre netted five as Presidente blew past Flames 11-1 and in the third game of the day The Dominators lived up to their name crushing President Light 11 – 4.

Risc Takers took to the refurbished pitch in game four and flashed past Emile Photo 8-1 while Prime defeated Young Black Stars 4 – 2.

In the final match of the day Paradise Inn remained perfect winning their third match to top the standings in Group A. Paradise feasted on Shak'Eat 8-2.

The 16 team competition is divided into two pools. Second in Pool A are Dominators with two wins and one loss. Shak'Eat is also 2-1 but sits third in standings on goal difference.

Risc Takers are 3-0 in Group B. Strikers are second at 2-0. Presidente and Marine United are third and fourth respectively with six points at 2-1.

Play continues with six matches Sunday. First kick off between Presidente Light and Young Black Stars is set for 2:00pm.
