French side’s Aqua Walking Club to compete in Martinique

MARIGOT-- Founded in July 2025, the Friendly Longe-Côte Club brings together experienced male and female aqua walkers who have chosen to practice the discipline at a competitive level.

Six of its members will take part in the International Aqua Walking Open of Martinique on February 7 and 8, a regional qualifying competition for the French Longe-Côte Championships.

Nearly 160 competitors, including 70 athletes from clubs in Guadeloupe, Marie-Galante, Saint-Martin, and Martinique, will take part in this year’s Open, which has, since last year, become the qualifying event for the Antilles zone for the French Championships.

For this third edition, and the club’s first competition appearance, the six Friendly Longe-Côte athletes will compete in 24 race entries across the various disciplines, distances and relays. They will compete in the Longe-Côte races on Saturday, February 7, on Pointe Marin Beach in Sainte-Anne. The athletes are:

Dominique Balet--50m paddle solo, 200m solo hands-only, 400m pair race and 4x 50m team relay

Yannick Le Bot—50m paddle solo, 200m solo hands-only, 400m pair race, 4x50m mixed team relay

Celya Brige—50m paddle solo, 200m solo hands-only, 400m pair race, 4x 50m mixed team relay

On Sunday, in the Longe-Côte trail event, the club will be represented by Dominique Balet and Celya Brige. With only five months of training as a club, the goal is to measure themselves against competitors from the Antilles and mainland France, and to proudly represent Saint-Martin.

The club is affiliated with the French Hiking Federation and is sponsored by Thomas Wallyn, the creator of Longe-Côte. For this competition, it benefits from the support of the Territorial Olympic Committee of Saint-Barthélemy / Saint-Martin (CTOS) and the brand One by K (One Love, One Life, One Island).  Press Contact : +590 690 47 40 34 / This email address is being protected from spambots.
