FIBA 3X3 Qualifiers return to St. Maarten

ST. ROSE ARCADE--The Last of Us lead by David Labardy went undefeated in the first day of the Under 18 International Basketball Federation (FIBA( 3X3 National Qualifiers at the St. Rose Arcade. Six teams competed in the 3-on-3 competition organized by Island Hoops Foundation.


Teams are competing against each other to decide who will represent St. Maarten in the Caribbean championship games next year.
A crowd of onlookers gathered at the St. Rose Arcade and cheered at the spectacle of skill on display. This was especially the case when some of the players took to the skies and slammed the ball down with authority.
3-on-3 Basketball, the urban and most commonly played version of the sport has been growing in popularity in recent years. FIBA, the sport’s international governing body has been working tirelessly to create avenues to spread the urban game across the globe and in early 2016 it was decided that the Caribbean region should join the phenomenon.
Island Hoops Foundation will host the 2nd day of the National Qualifiers Saturday starting at 1:00pm. Last of Us will face Pace Makers, Savage Storm, Rebels and Showtime.
