Dikers Sports Training Academy holding basketball training camp

ST. EUSTATIUS – Dikers Sports Training Academy DSTA Foundation  is holding a basketball training camp in cooperation with the St Eustatius Sports Facilities Foundation SSFF. Professional Coach Mike Ingram was brought to the island to train children on the island. Coach Ingram was Coach Miguel Chiverton of the DSTA when he attended Lansing Community College in Michigan to play basketball and attend college. Coach Ingram’s wife Phebeit Ingram also travelled with him to the island of St Eustatius Historical Gem in the Caribbean. Coach Mike said he has been coaching over 33 years at Michigan State and it has given him so much joy to see his students elevating in the sports fields. He is happy for the invitation from Coach Miguel Chiverton of DSTA, where he can come and assist with the youths on the island as the youths are the future. The Department of Social Affairs and Sports headed by Director Carol Jack-Roosberg sent a representative; Curdi Lewis, to meet Coach Mike upon his arrival on Statia. Unfortunately due to unforeseen problems with his Winair flight, he had to stay overnight in St. Maarten. On Thursday July 27th, Curdi Lewis and Coach Chiverton were on hand to meet Coach Mike and his wife Phebeit Ingram. The basketball camp is being held at the Earl Merkman Sports Hall from 11:00am until 2:00pm on Friday July 28th. On Saturday July 29th, the camp will start from 7:00pm. There will be competitions and various activities to stimulate the children,   Coach Mike promised.
