PHILIPSBURG--A total of 46 rounds of fights are scheduled to be held at L.B. Scott Sports Auditorium August 8.
Promoting the event is the former president of the local boxing federation Bobby Ottely. He is working with the new president of the Souliga Professional Boxing and Mix Martial Arts Federation, Daniel Gumbs.
The goal is to have three fight nights per year on St. Maarten.
“Boxing has been part of my life from the very beginning,” shared Gumbs remembering back to the 1970s. “Although, growing up, I was very active and involved in various sports such as basketball and football, boxing always remained my favorite sport and held a very special place in my heart.”
Gumbs continued, “What has always inspired me about boxing is the discipline, determination resilience and respect that the sport teaches.
The details of who will be fighting have yet to be finalized, but will be announced soon.
