Bikini champion Elvina Matthew set to compete at CAC in Mexico

MARIGOT--St. Martin’s top bodybuilding bikini champion Josephine Elvina Matthew is making final preparations to compete next week in the 45th Central American and Caribbean (CAC) championship in Mexico City representing the Bodybuilding and Fitness Association of St. Martin (BFASM).

Matthew competes in CAC July 27-29 followed by the Giovanni Classic in Aruba August 25-26.

She has represented St. Martin well at her last three appearances in competition in 2017, placing third at the Mr./Ms. America Elite Championship in Colombia, a second place in the Dominican Republic’s Diamond Cup Elite Championship, and ninth place at the Arnold Classic world sport festival in Brazil.

Matthew has once again been hard at work in the gym, determined to continue representing St. Martin and making her country and BFASM proud.

“It is with great pride and joy that we can represent our island at these international competitions at every chance we get,” said BFASM President, coach and International Federation of Body building (IFBB) international judge François Carty. “We have been training very hard for these events. It’s not easy, due to the shift from the IFBB to IFBB Elite pro.

“These events are now open to everyone, which gives us a great opportunity to compete with the rest of the world and showcase our island while doubling our chances to become a professional in this sport. The passion and willpower to make it to the top keep us pushing even harder to pave the road for our future athletes to come.

“As usual. none of this would have been possible without the vision and support for sports in general from First Vice-President of the Collectivité Valerie Damasseau and our loyal sponsors and supporters to whom we give a big thank you.”

Carty said registration is open for all interested future and current bodybuilders and fitness athletes. Contact J.C.’s Gym office in La Savane or email
