CURACAO--Michael Arvelo of Curacao is headed to Argentina to officiate the Pan-American Pool Competition August 13 to 28.
Arvelo arrange for an invitation to the games for three St. Maarten players. Unfortunately the local shooters cannot make the trip.
Arvelo extended the in vitiation as he has close ties to the Island. In addition to being a shooter and international referee, he also is a pool and billiards instructor trainer. One of his students turned pool instructor is Rudolph Hyman. Arvelo has travelled to the Friendly Island to work with both Hyman and Hyman’s students several times.
The Pan American competition begins August 14 with qualifiers. August 18 to 20 the surviving shooters will compete in 10-Ball. From August 21 to 23 the group will play 8-ball and the competition will close August 27 to 28 with Grand Prix 8-Ball.
The competition will be played in Moreno. The host venue features 50 8-foot long tables and 40 9-foot long tables spread over two floors.
Hyman explained the trip would have been a great experience for the local players but they already have a trip in the works.
“We are working on getting ready to take part in Trinidad.”
