ANGUILLA--The third annual Anguilla Cup tournament will take place November 5-10, at the Anguilla Tennis Academy (ATA), Blowing Point. Players from more than fourteen countries will be in attendance including the United States (US), France, the Netherlands, Jamaica, Great Britain, Japan, Brazil, Italy, Antigua, Puerto Rico, Trinidad and Tobago, China, Hungary, and Australia. The International Tennis Federation (ITF) officials for the tournament are from Canada.

It is part of the Caribbean Cup Tennis Series and is the brainchild of Karl Hale, the Rogers Cup Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) tournament director who was born in Jamaica. The series is to promote youth development on the island by inviting the players up to the Rogers Cup, clinics on the island with ATP pros and a scholarship programme to assist players getting US tennis scholarships.

Founder and president of the ATA, Mitchelle Lake said, “We are pleased to once again host the Anguilla Cup at the Anguilla Tennis Academy. We look forward to a fun and successful event and trust that all the participants will have a great experience. Many thanks to all the sponsors that have joined together to make this event possible.”

On Nov 8, at 4:30pm the ATA will host an amazing exhibition match featuring Mark Philippoussis, former US Open and Wimbledon Finalist and world number 8 against Jesse Witten who is known for almost beating Novak Djokovic in the US Open round 16 and losing in a tie break in the fourth set. These players are the best to ever be playing at the ATA. Prior to this match there will be a free tennis clinic for all the ATA children in the after-school programme.
