BELGRADE- - Former European Cup winners Red Star Belgrade reached the Champions League group stage for the second successive season after a 1-1 home draw with Swiss side Young Boys in the playoffs sent them through on away goals on Tuesday.

Holder Osaka survives Blinkova test at Open

NEW YORK- - Naomi Osaka was given a testing workout by Anna Blinkova as she began the defence of her U.S. Open title on Tuesday but the world number one's power and shot making ultimately proved too much as she prevailed 6-4 6-7(5) 6-2.
  The unseeded Blinkova raced into a 4-1 lead in the first set and a shock appeared to be in the works but Osaka cut down her errors to win five straight games and take the opener.

Djokovic finds comfort zone early at U.S. Open

NEW YORK- - Novak Djokovic was feeling right at home on the Arthur Ashe Stadium hardcourt on Monday, which may be bad news for anyone hoping to deny the defending champion from adding to his Grand Slam tally.

MILAN- - Forward Romelu Lukaku scored on his debut for Inter Milan as they made a flying start under new coach Antonio Conte with a 4-0 win over promoted Lecce in Serie A on Monday.

Atletico keep up winning La Liga start at Leganes

MADRID- - Atletico Madrid made it two wins out of two as Vitolo scored in the second half to secure a hard-fought 1-0 La Liga victory at Leganes on Sunday.
