Paris Saint-Germain rolls past Atletico Madrid in CWC play

Paris St Germain's Lee Kang-in scores their fourth goal from the penalty spot against Atletico Madrid during their FIFA Club World Cup Group B match at Rose Bowl Stadium, Pasadena, California.

PASADENA--Fabian Ruiz and Vitinha scored first-half goals and Paris Saint-Germain opened Club World Cup Group B play with a 4-0 victory over Atletico Madrid on Sunday afternoon at Pasadena, Calif.

Senny Mayulu added another goal in the final minutes and Lee Kang-in made a penalty kick in stoppage time as PSG finished off a strong performance at the Rose Bowl.

In the first half, Ruiz put PSG on the board in the 19th minute when he sent a left-footed shot into the right corner.

Vitinha then scored a crucial goal in the first minute of first-half stoppage time. He shed a defender and drilled a hard right-footed into the net.

Atletico Madrid looked as if they were back in the game when Julio Alvarez sent a right-footer from the right side into the left corner of the net in the 57th minute.

But a sequence before the goal was reviewed and it was decided a foul should have been called when Koke hip-checked Desire Doue to turf. That led to the goal being negated.

Mayulu sealed the match with a right-footed goal in the 87th minute and Lee nailed his left-footed penalty kick in the seventh minute of second-half stoppage time.

Atletico Madrid had a big opportunity in the third minute when Julian Alvarez sent a free kick wide right of the net.

PSG held a 16-5 edge in shots and put 11 on target to just one for Atletico Madrid.
