Mets' Francisco Lindor wins 2026 Roberto Clemente Award

FLORIDA--New York Mets shortstop Francisco Lindor was named the 2026 Roberto Clemente Award winner on Monday.

The five-time All-Star was recognized for his charitable endeavors, community contributions and youth leadership.

Lindor, 32, will be presented with the award Monday night before Game 3 of the World Series in St. Petersburg, Fla.

The prestigious honor includes a $100,000 donation from Capital One to Lindor's SEEN Foundation, whose mission is to empower youth, create opportunities and foster positive community impact.

Lindor is the fifth recipient of Puerto Rican descent to receive the award named after the late Puerto Rican legend. Clemente died in a plane crash on New Year's Eve 1972 while on a humanitarian mission to aid earthquake victims Nicaragua. Lindor joined Edgar Martinez (2004), Carlos Delgado (2006), Carlos Beltran (2013) and Yadier Molina (2018).
