Carty rewrites record books, passes Sir Viv Richards  with the most runs for West Indies after 33 innings

CARDIFF, England--St. Maarten cricket star Keacy Carty etched his name in the record books once again, this time by becoming the leading run-scorer for West Indies after 33 innings. Most significantly, he has overtaken the legendary Vivian Richards who was also known as the Master Blaster.


Richards is known for his prolific run scorer is considered a batting legend of th West Indies. On Sunday, against England in his 33rd inning, Carty scored a 103 off 105 balls (13 fours) to register 1403 runs. Richards' total off 33 innings is 1399 runs.
For a young cricketer from St. Maarten to overtake the indomitable Richards and hold such a record is a noteworthy feat. Carty tops a chart of popular West Indian batsmen after 33 innings. Those batsmen are Carty 1403, Richards 1399, Gordon Greenidge 1397, Ramnaresh Sarwan 1281, Shimron Hetmyer 1174, Shai Hope 1115, Nicholas Pooran 1087, Brian Lara 1,068, Lendl Simmons 1064 and Evin Lewis 1011.
Carty made his debut for the West Indies on May 31, 2022. He scored his first one-day hundred against England on November 6, 2024. in his last four innings, the St. Maarten superstar stroked an amazing three centuries: 103, 22, 170 and 102. Carty presently boast a solid average of 50.10.  Such feat has been achieved because of his consistency, determination and big appetite to succeed all the time.
Carty destribed the process involved in reaching to the level of consistency, in an interview with Jerome Foster, Content and Media Officer assigned to the West Indies Men’s Senior Team, “After experiencing some success in Australia, I knew that I just needed to focus on improving my weaker areas, so I ensured that I put in the hours and time ahead of every series with strategic intent if I was to improve and evolve as a player, not only for myself but also the team in the wider scheme of things.”
