GEORGETOWN, Guyana--The Guyana Police Force (GPF) has issued wanted bulletins for three individuals – who are wanted for terrorism – over the bombing of a police outpost and a power generation substation in Georgetown.

The names of the individuals were not disclosed but their photos were displayed on the wanted bulletins issued by the police on Tuesday, May 27, some 10 days after the incident.

Head of Communications at the GPF Mark Ramotar could not reveal the nationalities of the wanted individuals, only disclosing, “All I can say [is – Ed.] they are ‘Spanish-speaking’.”

At around 1:00am on May 17, an explosion occurred at the East Ruimveldt Police Outpost, located at Vlissengen Square and East Front Road. According to reports, a loud explosion originating from the southern side of the outpost rocked the compound. The police rank on duty at the time heard two distinct blasts followed by debris impacting nearby rooftops.

On inspection, it was discovered that the southern wall of the concrete structure had been significantly damaged. The Crime Scene Unit later confirmed that the metal gate on the southern perimeter was completely blown away, and other parts of the outpost sustained structural damage.

The second site under investigation is the Guyana Power and Light Inc. (GPL) Substation along Mandela Avenue, which also experienced suspicious damage around the same time frame. Authorities are examining the possibility of a coordinated effort between both incidents. ~ iNews Guyana ~
