ROBINS BAY, St Mary--Detectives assigned to the Major Investigation Division of the Jamaica Constabulary Force have launched an intensive investigation following a gun attack that claimed the lives of three men in the quiet coastal community of Robins Bay, St Mary, on Wednesday.
The deceased have been identified as 22-year-old Sazaree Clarke, also known as Joel; 60-year-old bar operator Marlon James; and 42-year-old mason Peter John Fagan. All three victims were residents of the Robins Bay area.
According to official reports from the police communications network, the violent incident occurred at approximately 4:40 p.m. on Wednesday. Gunmen travelling in a motor vehicle pulled up to a local bar operated by James.
Armed assailants exited the vehicle, entered the establishment, and immediately opened fire on James and Clarke, who were inside the building. As the gunmen were making their escape from the scene, they targeted Fagan, who was standing outside the premises. The assailants then fled the area in their vehicle in an unknown direction. All three wounded men were rushed to the nearest medical facility, where medical personnel formally pronounced them dead upon arrival.
The deadly shooting has thrown the rural settlement of Robins Bay into deep mourning and terror. Community members expressed profound disbelief over the tragedy, emphasising that none of the victims was associated with criminal activity or local disputes.
Lorraine Narine, the mother of 22-year-old Clarke, recounted the tragic moments leading up to her son's death. Narine explained that she had been attending a grave digging in the area when she heard loud noises that initially sounded like a motor vehicle muffler backfiring.
Shortly thereafter, frantic community members delivered the news that her son had been shot inside the bar. Narine collapsed twice while running to the scene in desperation.
Narine described her late son as a quiet young man who assisted her daily at home.
She noted that at the time of the shooting, Clarke was recovering from a previous physical injury sustained in a bicycle accident, which had required a metal pin in his hand and 21 stitches to his head. Narine asserted that her son maintained a clean record with local police officers and was completely uninvolved in wrongdoing.
She added that the other two deceased men were similarly respected figures in the neighbourhood, noting that Fagan was her cousin and James was a long-standing business operator.
Narine recalled stopping by James's establishment earlier on the afternoon of 9 September 2026 on her way to the grave digging, where James had called out a warm greeting to her. She lamented the sudden loss of life in a district generally known for peace and social cohesion. Local leaders and civic groups in St Mary have called upon the
Ministry of National Security to deploy targeted intelligence units to prevent any escalation of gun violence in the parish.
Investigators from the Major Investigation Division have urged anyone with relevant information regarding the motor vehicle or the unidentified gunmen to contact the police immediately.
