Passengers travelling between Suriname and Guyana are being advised to expect delays and schedule adjustments following Tuesday evening’s runway excursion at the Eugene F. Correia International Airport.
GEORGETOWN, Guyana--In a joint operational update issued on Wednesday, Trans Guyana Airways and Gum Air confirmed that the Beechcraft 1900D aircraft operating the Paramaribo–Ogle (EAX–OGL) route was involved in the incident on April 14, 2026.
“Due to this event, there may be temporary disruptions on the Paramaribo–Ogle (EAX–OGL) route, including some delays and schedule adjustments,” the airlines said, noting that teams are actively working to assist affected passengers and accommodate rescheduling as quickly as possible.
The aircraft had been operating an inbound flight from Suriname when it encountered difficulties during landing, with earlier reports indicating that it struck a wild animal on the runway, resulting in damage and a subsequent excursion.
Despite the incident, the airlines confirmed that all passengers and crew are safe.
“First and foremost, we are relieved to confirm that, based on initial reports, all passengers and crew are safe. The safety of our passengers and crew remains our highest priority at all times,” the statement added.
Passengers whose bookings are affected will be contacted directly, while others are being urged to remain in contact with reservations teams for the latest updates.
The airlines also apologised for any inconvenience caused and assured that efforts are underway to minimise disruption and restore normal operations.
Meanwhile, the Guyana Civil Aviation Authority has launched a formal investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
