Today it’s me, tomorrow it’s you

Dear Editor,

He who does not acknowledge and attest to the fact that what the Kingdom Council did with William Marlin is, regardless of sentiments on how he functioned, simply put, wrong, subjects himself and supported persons to same incorrect treatment in the future.

Irma was an opportunity for our people and representatives to unite and adopt shared positions pertaining to important interest of our island. A Joint Government, ideally with a Business Cabinet, was highly advisable. Instead, we once again allowed ourselves to be divided and ruled.

This latest incident is a clear example of being “Ruled.” Ironically, it presents yet another opportunity for our leaders to adopt a joint position by condemning this action, regardless of political interest.

However big our differences are, they are our differences and for us to solve. Ultimately, it is in the politicians’ best interest to speak up.

As they say in Papiamentu: “Awe ta dimi i mañan ta dibo!”
