Dear Editor,
As the nation welcomes back thousands of children for this new academic school year, would their routine remain the same in this rapidly developing world? Or, will the students shift their mentality towards understanding and valuing this short, yet very important educational journey?
In his book, Jeff Keller emphasised that “Attitude is everything.” If attitude influences behaviour, then here is my direct question to you, students: Will you continue to stay glued to your devices, trying to capture every moment that does not positively impact your social, emotional and educational development?
In addition, will you take a moment to examine the direction in which this country is moving, and how you will be systematically locked out of a progressive St. Martin, if getting a good education does not become your number one priority?
Adolf Hitler once said, “Give me the children, I will change society in 10 years.” The question is: was this statement made to complement and enhance the status of the Soviet Union or was it a prelude to access their mind and gain total control of their life, for generations? Back then, this dangerous philosophy was engineered by one man, but has this attitude changed today? No!
It is the same ideology that has been adopted by the dark forces behind the internet that is grooming and raising you – a platform that seduces and keeps you hooked, without understanding the danger that lurks and consumes your body, mind and soul, day after day.
Every time you pick up your devices to engage in games and other contents that degrade your dignity, ask yourself these two questions: what was the intention behind the creation of these platforms and how much money do they make by constantly seducing your mind and robbing you of the joy of childhood?
Each time you become preoccupied with your devices, somebody is getting filthy rich, and for sure, that someone is not you. Are you going to continue to develop their landscape, while you maintain it for them, without any form of payment? Now is the time to retrieve your mind. All you have to do is change your attitude to acquire a new perspective towards school.
Finally, will you continue to be the product of their dark ideology or will you develop a new attitude to switch your eyes from your screens unto the pages of your textbooks, and create your new reality?
