Survival for all

Living on the island for 20 years, I’ve seen the drastic change from the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer. This happens when there is no cooperation and no understanding. I’m not a politician to understand reasons as to why, when, and how, but a common man who can see this happening.

The flea market owners go to set up their stalls as early as 7:00am to make a day-to-day living and to survive because of tourists who come and buy small trinkets from them.

Now where there is no control over distribution, we see places that sell pre-sold tours for stuff that tourists don’t even want to go to, or buy, as early as 9:00am.

Again, I’m not saying they shouldn’t because they themselves choose that particular tour, but why can’t we put our hands together with a higher power to send tourists to these marketplaces.

As word of mouth is the best way of advertising on our small island, I urge my fellow islanders to support this idea. Let us strive to promote progression for all, and there will surely be more smiling faces, not just for Christmas, but all year ’round.
