Dear Editor,
When will the people get politicians who can move away from this ghetto behaviour, to become committed to the principles of respectable politics? This batch of politicians are prolonging the legacy of dirty politics, no matter if newcomers are added to the mix. But as the title indicates, one can never restrain the nature of the beast.
And as the saying goes, “Action speaks louder than words.” This adage was a clear demonstration in Parliament last week Friday, when the opposition failed to show up to work to approve the credentials of the two incoming parliamentarians. There is no doubt that this was a deliberate, exploited and deplorable act, especially at this fragile stage of the recovery process.
How can the opposition consistently echo the need for stability, when they are doing everything possible to destabilize the government? When will they put their selfish needs aside and contribute to the rebuilding of the economy and the country that they all claimed to love? Anything is expected from the rest of the team but my biggest disappointment is in the decision of the so-called leader of NA, Silveria Jacobs.
As I listened to the deliberations, the words of the late Mother Teresa came to mind. This woman of enormous humility stated that, “A woman’s love is in action. She looks with her heart and feels with her eyes.” It is a fact that a woman thinks far differently from a man. Generally, every decision a woman makes is centered on the family, which is the heartbeat of any community.
How could this MP refuse to attend the handling of the “People’s Business,” but goes on air consistently to chat froth about her commitment to the youth and well-being of this country? This is a complete waste of tax-payers’ money. And then the absurdity is compounded by the belief that people’s comments are hurting their family. The politicians are the ones who are causing them pain. Why don’t they think of their loved ones before they make these selfish decisions?
Speaking of being egocentric, this so-called leader should come clean and inform the public of the real reason why a broader-based government was not instituted. People, it is because NA did not get the Ministry of VROMI during the negotiations with UD. If in doubt, ask William Marlin, the one who approves every decision within National Alliance. So who is the real leader, camouflaged in the background?
Surely, Theo and Frankie, who are asleep at the wheel, have gotten their reward for extending the olive branch and by declining to analyze the biblical story of Samson and Delilah. But this is not all. If the leader of UD was awake, he would have anticipated the strong possibility of the opposition not showing up to Parliament last week Friday. Just recently on air, it was declared by a member of the opposition that the composition in government will change within a few months.
This is the real deal, people: Out of the 4 parties, 2 of them are managed by their own leaders, while the other 2 are directed by others within the party. The common denominator of the latter group is that the members have established cliques within the party, which in itself is a threat to weaken the party. To confirm, have the population realized that some want-to-be leaders are just followers? They have no ideology, but just flow with their colleagues’ perceptions, even though those views are detrimental to this country?
Meanwhile, the constitutional dilemma has exposed the loopholes that exist in the Rules of Order. How can it be so that the credentials of incoming parliamentarians are left up to other members to approve? It is totally unacceptable, and this loophole must be fixed immediately. What an interesting moment it will be to see if the opposition will use wisdom or continue their manipulation, to negotiate the current situation.
