More and more I am noticing that people in the community are paying more attention to the not so positive things that have been said and done of late. I noticed that a car was following mine (my car glasses are not tinted and I never had anything to hide).
At a certain moment, the car which followed mine blew their horn at me. I stopped and the young man got out and came to me. After greeting me politely he wanted permission to ask me a question. This young man wanted me to ask you to ask the Members of Parliament and or Ministers, if they compare their salaries to those of the average police people how could they (Ministers, MPs) feel comfortable? So I asked him what he meant by “they feel comfortable”. He answered like this: If four men have to dig a trench with picks and shovels and one man with a backhoe has to dig the same trench, who has to work harder and who is going to get the most money for the job. So I looked at him for a while. He said to me the Minister who is responsible will receive much more money and recognition for getting that trench dug, but the actual persons who did the job will receive much less compensation at the end.
And you know something? If a Minister buys a pound of sugar, it costs the same for the people who had to dig the trench. After listening to him, I told him that he seems intelligent enough to be able to write that letter to the editor of “The Daily Herald” himself. His answer was, “But you does say it like it is.”
I asked him if he thinks that the police should strike? His answer was: “If they strike we would not have anybody to protect we.” After explaining to him that as long as he writes the truth and does not offend anyone personally, he should feel free to express himself in writing.
